Course Duration

Between 18 and 24 months

Course Outline

Training of Exceed Apprentices will be majority work-based in a Hairdressing salon, where they will work as part of the salon team in a junior role, This is linked with weekly training sessions at Exceed’s Academy. Apprentices will complete a Hair professionals’ standard qualification at Level 2, Functional Skills at Level 2 in English and Maths, Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours are fully embedded and formatively assessed throughout training. The City and Guilds Hair Professionals standard covers an up to date commercially viable range of practical skills and theory knowledge which will ensure Apprentices are employable in the hairdressing industry on completion of end point assessment.

Course Content

To provide basic hairdressing skills in:

• Cutting/Restyle Techniques
• Colouring Hair/Colour Correction
• Perming
• Blow-drying / setting
• Consultation
• Shampooing
• Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
• Hair Extensions

Assessment

Learners will complete a portfolio of evidence which will support the achievement of Level 2 Hair Professionals qualification with the completion of End point assessment to fully achieve the Apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements

• 2 GCSEs Grade C or above in English Language and Maths would be desirable.

• An Apprenticeship will be offered following an interview.

• Advanced Apprenticeship / NVQ Level 3 in Hairdressing
• NVQ Level 4 in Hairdressing Management

• Full hairdressing kits will be purchased directly from the Exceed Academy prior to Enrolment of the course.
