Between 13 and 18 months

Course Outline

Training of Exceed Apprentices will be majority work-based in a Hairdressing salon, where they will work as part of the salon team in a junior role, This is linked with weekly training sessions at Exceed’s Academy. Advanced Apprentices will complete a Hairdressing Level 3 Diploma, Functional Skills at Level 2 in English and Maths (If not achieved at Level 2 Hairdressing), Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours are fully embedded and formatively assessed throughout training. The City and Guilds NVQ Level 3 in Hairdressing is designed for NVQ Level 2 qualified hairdressers who are currently working within the industry.

Course Content

This course is designed to meet the needs of hairdressers wishing to develop skills, with modules including:

• Advanced/Personalised cutting techniques
• Creative colour and colour correction
• Artistic and creative development
• Effective Consultation
• Health and safety
• Creatively dressing long hair
• Financial effectiveness

Assessment

During the course Learners will be required to collate a portfolio of evidence for assessment. This will consist of written, oral and observational practice evidence.

Entry Requirements

• NVQ Level 2 in hairdressing.
• Alternative hairdressing qualification with salon experience.
